Summer Crush Vineyard & Winery (formerly Endless Summer); Florida’s Original Sun & Surf Winery is a small family owned sun & fun boutique winery creation that is the result of the blending of owner/vintner Gary Roberts’ love of history, surfing, and native muscadine and fruit wines.Growing up in Florida, Gary began surfing at the age of 11 and started his prolific collection of classic boards and memorabilia in 1972 (some of which can be seen in the tasting room and pavilion). After discovering a wine he loved, muscadine wine, Gary also discovered it was the oldest wine in the new world, first recorded being made at Fort Caroline (near today’s Jacksonville), Florida in 1565 by the pirate captain John Hawkins, cousin of Sir Frances Drake. Gary also learned that in the later 1500’s, Francescan monks at Mission San Luis, near todays Tallahassee, planted the New World’s first vineyard, further encouraging him to follow this storied history with the creation of his own Sunshine State vineyard and winery.
Gary’s wife Susan, and son’s Bud and Allen encouraged the pursuit and Gary began making wine at home in 2009. It then became a natural progression to open a winery featuring this historic native grape and tropical fruits. “Muscadine grape and tropical fruit wines are two of the fastest growing segments in the wine industry as the paradigm shift appears to be leaning more towards a contemporary ‘it’s OK to drink what tastes good to you’ philosophy”, states Gary. Summer Crush Vineyard & Winery grows the Noble, Carlos, and Doreen varieties of muscadine grapes for our wines in our year round vineyard operation and also makes specialty fruit wines, such as mango.
Our goal is summed up in our motto: Good Wines, Good Vibes,& Good Times. Like we say, “Florida is truly a place with a Crush on Summer”. It is our desire that the blending of the rich history of muscadine wine and the tropical experience of our vineyard will produce a memorable winery experience like no other.
